Bernard Williams once said, “There’s no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.”
Skilled nursing communities were one of the first settings to graciously open their doors to the concept of pet therapy over 30 years ago according to Therapy Dog International. Today, it continues to be a heartwarming experience for residents, families, and associates. Here at Juniper Village at Brookline, a wide variety of pets and their humans stop by to visit regularly. Keep an eye out for Cinnamon the Pomeranian, pictured here. Cinnamon’s human, Tamera (one of our fabulous Connections Associates) says, “Cinnamon can brighten anyone’s day! I love to see her help the residents stay active. It’s amazing the way animals can help to connect people, too.” You can catch Cinnamon on Tuesdays in the afternoons and evenings at Juniper’s skilled nursing and rehab building. We also have visits with robotic pets! Stop by the 2nd floor media lounge to see our amazing robotic cat in action. It purrs and moves in a realistic manner.
