Juniper Village at Brookline strives to become the “go to” standard for those individuals seeking a career in healthcare by offering a well-reputed community of learning. This standard is achieved through internships in a number of departments. Juniper Village at Brookline Rehabilitation and Skilled Care has developed into the educational site for those interested in becoming licensed nursing home administrators. Following the Pennsylvania Department of Health protocol, the Administrator in Training (AIT) track is an excellent opportunity for future leaders such as Peter Kretschmer, a Penn State student. Peter grew up in State College and had the pleasure of living in the same house with his grandparents, whom he believes instilled in him a desire to serve older adults. “They taught me to see them as vast treasures of information, having extremely interesting story’s, and life lessons that help make me who I am today. This also helped me decide on what my career path will hopefully be. When I was thinking of what I wanted to do after studying Health Policy and Administration at Penn State, the thought of helping the elderly just jumped out at me. I knew that is what I want to do.  After doing some research I found out about the NHA position and knew that was it. I then focused on that goal and am in the process of making it a reality.” Through the AIT program, Peter will spend 1000 hours at Juniper, working in all departments of care, to gain insight into the policies and processes that make a skilled community function.
Please join us in welcoming Peter to Juniper and congratulate him on his new endeavor.
