Juniper Village at Mount Joy recently took a Musical Journey Through Time
This month as we celebrate new beginnings and the joy of music, we called on a pair of professional musicians to provide a lecture and recital. Sisters, Laurie Reese and Tish Brown grew up with a love for the art of music. Today they work together as full time musicians, sharing that love through teaching and performing. Laurie on cello and Tish on violin and viola, we heard samples of European music through the ages. We enjoy familiar and unfamiliar tunes from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic era and more! The duo shared fascinating information on the turns of each era, a bit about the composers and form of compositions. More than just a beautiful concert, this program offered a glimpse into the instruments themselves. We learned about the instrument makers, the parts and intricacies of the string family and the variety of styles that can be played. What an enjoyable learning experience!
