Love At Any Distance

Following the lyrics of Marvin Gaye’s, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, “I’ll be there when you want me, some way, somehow” our residents at Juniper Village at Brookline Rehabilitation and Skilled Care, are learning new ways to stay in touch with family and friends.

“It is so important for our residents mind, body and spirit to stay connected with families when they physically cannot be here, “says Dawneigh Decker, Connections Associate, who is making sure that residents have virtual visits with their loved ones. Using an iPad, Dawneigh and her Connections co-workers, are able to FaceTime or Zoom with residents and their loved ones to continue positive and meaningful visits. Another opportunity for families and residents to connect is through the Visiting Nook. The Nook provides families and residents the opportunity for “window visits” and telephone communication with assistance by a Connections associate. These times provide both parties with feelings of connection and love. Juniper Village is following guidelines set by the CDC, and Department of Health through the COVID-19 pandemic with the continued priority of keeping our residents healthy and active through all seasons of life. If you would like to donate an iPad, iPhone, or other electronic devices to help residents continue to connect with family and friends, please call Juniper at 814-238-3139.
