In 2006, he was promoted to Special Systems Analyst in which he was responsible for all management reporting, data set administration and integration, and key indicator development for benchmarking and trending of major performance indices including sales & marketing, human resources, quality metrics and financial performance for the entire portfolio.
Don was promoted in 2010 to Vice President of Risk Management & Business Operations and most recently in 2023, to Chief Operating Officer. In this capacity, he continues all quality assurance, information systems and data set management reporting but also handles Juniper insurance programs and risk management for all product lines including risk evaluation, crisis response, assessment and strategic planning.
Additionally, Don provides operational oversight for the regional directors of operations across the portfolio. His current role also includes project management in acquisition and divestiture, operational analysis, new business development and team development/training particularly related to data and quality management and best practices.
Don is responsible for all intellectual technology and Juniper IT platforms including coordination, development and monitoring of all information systems, networks and integration.
Forming the core of Don’s work in positioning Juniper as an innovator within the senior living sector are his depth of knowledge and strategic approach to management of information systems and integration in senior care, performance quality assurance metrics, forecasting future practices of IT in senior living as well as information sharing and security throughout the continuum of care.
Prior to joining Juniper, Don was part of the senior management team with Sharon Regional Hospital & Health System Behavioral Health Services. He has also served as a private consultant to numerous agencies providing risk analysis, specialized training, strategic program evaluation, and quality assurance program design and implementation.
Don is originally from Pittsburgh and received his Bachelor’s Degree from West Virginia University where he was the first male student to ever receive a Certificate in Gerontology. He completed his Master’s Degree from Slippery Rock University. Don is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and PA Personal Care Administrator. He serves on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA).
He lives in Sharpsville, PA with his wife, Lori and their three children Madeline, Donnie, Michael and their dog, Talya. Don plays jazz bass guitar and has volunteered as Treasurer for Little League for many years. He is a present member of the Sharpsville Booster Club.
