For over 100 years, The Jigger Shop, nestled in the heart of Mt. Gretna has been the traditional sweet treat spot for many people in Lancaster and surrounding counties.
An annual summer excursion has become tradition for the residents of Juniper Village at Mount Joy as well. Enjoying the scenic drive of luscious woodland, residents anticipated and discussed what flavors they would choose. This year’s favorite dishes included a peanut butter cup waffle bowl, black raspberry cone and the traditional jigger. Perhaps the most beautifully displayed choice was a Bananas Foster Flambé – a banana sautéed with butter and brown sugar, a touch of brandy flavoring flambéed and served over French vanilla ice cream with a dash of nutmeg, bit of whipped cream, complete with a cherry on top. YUM!
