Mardi Gras is a religious holiday and popular cultural phenomenon that dates back thousands of years to agnostic spring and fertility rites.
Also known as Carnaval, it’s celebrated in many countries around the world—mainly those with large Catholic populations—on the day before the religious season of Lent begins. Brazil, Italy, and New Orleans play host to some of the holiday’s most famous public festivities, drawing thousands of tourists and party goers every year… and Lakewood Reserve, A Juniper Senior Living Community, is no exception! On Fat Tuesday our residents (aka Mardi Gras Krewe) delighted in Kings cake, exuberant jazz music, and flamboyant attire. We are all looking forward to next year’s shenanigans!
