The participants enjoyed learning about each other and how some things are different in 2019 as they were in the mid 1900’s. As both the residents and elementary students started to form a bond through this letter writing it was evident that the pen pals should meet. In April the student visited Juniper Village Williamstown and were able to meet their pen pal in person. The group enjoyed working on a craft project and socializing about their lives. The connection was sealed and over the school year the pen pals formed forever friendships. The residents of Juniper Village Williamstown enjoyed personally making a graduation gift for their pen pals as they journey to a new phase of their life—middle school. The students are planning on continuing to visit the residents throughout the summer and for years to come.
