LION Bash Connects Town and Gown
Juniper Village at Brookline was thrilled to participate in this year’s LION Bash, hosted by the State College Community Engagement Office. Living In One Neighborhood (LION) Bash is an annual community block party and resource fair, designed to connect Penn State students and long-term community residents. With salsa dancing on the street, live music, and a rainbow for complimentary cupcakes, LION Bash was not only informative, but also a vibrant evening of fun.
Juniper Village at Brookline was excited to showcase some of our creative programming for wellness in mind, body, and spirit at this event. We featured a REfresh station where community members could read quick tips for incorporating mindful moments and exercises into their day. They also could experience aroma therapy at our essential oils station, featuring invigorating peppermint, relaxing lavender, and enlightening lemongrass.
Another sensory engagement experience was offered through our Music and Memory® station. Participants were fitted with headphones and given the experience of listening to music from a customized playlist featuring tunes from their teenage years. They then were asked how it made them feel. This brought to life the Music and Memory® program that Juniper uses in memory care, and allowed people to experience the emotional power of music firsthand.
At Juniper Village at Brookline, we believe it is important to be connected to our broader community. For more information about life at Juniper, visit our website or call Erin at 814.235.2000 to schedule a tour!
