Join us for the NAMI Walk or maybe the Walk to End Alzheimer’s! We’re hosting a progressive dinner for the Twilight Wish Foundation. Let’s head over to the high school to watch “our” team play basketball tonight!
At Juniper, we are committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate. We embrace a culture of service and volunteerism: giving back and paying it forward are two of the things we do best!
We do this first and foremost through a spirit of volunteerism. To be of service as a volunteer truly allows us to nurture the spirit of life in each individual we touch.
Members of our communities have been involved in numerous volunteer and service projects over the years. Most notably among these are the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, NAMI Walk, the Make a Wish and Twilight Wish foundations, Veteran’s Association pinning ceremonies, and sponsorships of local youth sports teams.
We also hold support groups within our communities for caregivers and family members in need. We provide internships for high school volunteers and serve as high school community service sites. Our residents volunteer to tutor and read to children in local schools. They knit baby blankets, bake cookies and package them for children in homeless shelters and many other small and large things on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
In November 2009 Juniper Communities held its first nationwide united services effort – a food drive coordinated across all our communities.Since that time, we continue to sponsor an annual food drive at all of our communities to benefit local food banks. Last year we collected over two tons of food to serve those in need.
Annually, our home office team identifies a local group in the Newark, NJ area needing volunteer support. Each year we designate at least one day where the office is closed and the entire team gathers to work for others in our community. Our efforts have been wide ranging– from finishing homes for Habitat for Humanity to packing gifts for the holidays for children in need to sorting clothing and food at New Jersey’s largest food bank. We donate time and energy but magically we receive so much in renewed vigor and the happiness that comes from giving back and being a part of the fabric of our community!

We are also committed to advancing knowledge in the long term care field overall. Through such initiatives as Certified Dementia Practitioner program, Music & Memories, and others we fulfill our goal of improving the quality of long term care even beyond the communities where Juniper residences are located.
We invite you – elders, family, friends, advocates, caregivers, public policy makers, and investors – to join the Juniper family of communities in giving back and paying it forward!
