You’ve Got a Friend in Me

Like many of us, some of our oldest close friends have been an important part of our lives over decades.

As attested by that old adage, “We choose our friends, not our family,” meaning that the personal and positive nature of friendship is voluntary. We are a social species and we need that sense of “belonging,” of feeling deeply appreciated by people we care for. Close friends share each other’s experiences and in some ways they inhabit each other’s lives. They often have similar viewpoints and values, and they may share similar backgrounds and traditions. Here at Lakewood Reserve,  A Juniper Senior Living Community, Jack Weber and his best friend of 60+ years have demonstrated what true friendship is. Jack and Carl holding their standing weekly billiards date every Friday during happy hour. Even though Carl isn’t a resident we Welcome him to our community with open arms and embrace the traditions that these pals have created.
