Cheryl Kugler will be coming to Juniper Village at Mount Joy to do a 15 day Creative Aging Residency through the PA Council on the Arts.

She is an approved Creative Aging Teaching Artist through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Arts in Education program. She has run artist residencies in senior centers and teaches weekly art classes in continuing care retirement communities.  Her teaching skills resourcefully adapt from classroom to one-on-one sessions.  Her openness to the creative process enables artists to experience classes that improve quality of life via self-expression, reminisce exploration, and art appreciation.

She has completed “Arts and Aging” training program to better work with older and elderly artists. Training has included teaching artist development labs at Lincoln Center Education in New York City, artist training through the National Center for Creative Aging, the MEPAP 1 program through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals, and Naomi Feil’s Validation Institute through Country Meadow’s George M. Leader Institute.

A life-long artist and native to south central Pennsylvania, Cheryl lives in Carlisle. Rich colors and gentle compositions of nature’s flora and fauna inspire her canvases. Verse in oils, pastels, acrylics, gouache, charcoal and graphite her art has been exhibited in the Pennsylvania State Capitol Rotunda and juried art exhibits at local art associations. A whimsical children’s story illustrator, she illustrated a 32-page picture book for a local literacy organization and 33 children’s stories for Sparkle/GEMS Girls Clubs magazines. Her work has also appeared on a violin for the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra’s “Painted Violins” project that benefited the orchestra.

In her double-life as a business professional, Cheryl has worked over 30 years in the field of marketing and public relations infusing corporate projects with creativity, curiosity and uniqueness.

Participation in this event is open not only to Juniper residents, but also local community members age 50 and above. Stay tuned for more information regarding this exciting opportunity!
