Walking to Spread Joy

September is Friendship Month at Juniper Village at Lebanon, and each year we have participated in the American Heart Association Heart Walk, which raises thousands of dollars to help fight heart disease.

In the U.S., one in every four deaths each year is attributed to heart disease.  For each of the past two years, our team has turned in over $1,000!  We know that we won’t reach our goal of $1,000 this year, as we will give half of our proceeds to our neighbors at Youth With A Mission, who experienced a devastating fire a few months ago.  We are happy to be able to help out these friends as well, since they often bring visitors from around the world to talk to our residents to improve their English.  This has led to many close friendships between Juniper residents and the staff and volunteers at YWAM. One YWAM volunteer, Bill, has given us all bracelets handmade from Guatemala for the past two Christmases!  Another visitor from Brazil taught us how to make their signature chocolate dessert!  Yum!  Juniper residents enjoy helping many organizations in Lebanon, including The Humane Society, Lebanon County Christian Ministries, and The Alzheimer’s Association, just to name a few.  Family, staff and friends are invited to join us on the walk on the last Sunday in September.  Get there a little early and you can join us for a picnic, too!  Help us “spread the joy”!
