On June 21st, the Williamstown, New Jersey township payed tribute to one of our heroes in a unique and truly memorable way. On that day, Juniper Village at Williamstown resident Sam Spera celebrated his 97th birthday. Mr. Spera served Williamstown over a period of 26 years as a police officer and later as Chief of Detectives. He is well respected in the community and was honored by both present and retired police officers along with city officials in a multi-police car parade to celebrate his big day. Many township residents remembered his 97th birthday through a multitude of cards and well wishes. These festivities were televised on three Philadelphia news stations along with a tribute in the local paper. Sam has a wonderful family who is loving and caring and played a vital part in this celebration. It was an emotional day for Sam—and a day he will never forget! Happy Birthday Sam, you’re truly one of our heroes!
