Cinnamon, a 9-year-old Pomeranian, visits routinely to spread joy and spice up the day for residents. Cinnamon’s owner, Tamara Higgins, is a Connections associate, and began bringing Cinnamon in to visit due to Cinnamon’s attributes of being, loving and affectionate. Tamara shares that Cinnamon “loves to give love.” What first made Tamara aware of Cinnamon’s desire to be with others is when Cinnamon would visit an elderly neighbor and sit of his porch to provide companionship.
Dogs provide a medium for physical touch and display affection. The mere presence of a dog raises the spirits of a person and the petting and touching of the fur allows one to have a wonderful object toward which to express their affection. Here at Juniper, a wide variety of pets and their humans stop by to visit regularly. You can catch Cinnamon on Tuesdays in the afternoons and evenings. Some of our pet visits are from robotic pets! Stop by the 2nd floor TV room to see our new robotic cat in action. The Joy for All Companion Pet meows, putts and moves in a realistic manner. It is sure to bring a smile to your face and is perfect for our residents who may not be able to interact with live animals.
