Kailey Smith is a former Juniper berry. She worked a few years back in the wellness department at Juniper Village at Mount Joy. Kailey went on to receive her RN and now is studying for her BSN. Part of her educational requirements involved preparing and presenting a fall prevention program to a long term care community. We were thrilled when Kailey asked to visit us and share her knowledge. Kailey reflects on her recent experience at Juniper; “ I am very thankful for the opportunity to have completed a service learning project with Juniper Village at Mount Joy. My requirement for my service learning project was to identify an issue that effects the elderly population. With my background in orthopedic-trauma nursing, I see the results of poor fall prevention first hand. So I decided to focus my project on fall prevention. I was also required to share my health care knowledge on preventing the issue of falls in the elderly population. I hope that I shared some new tips on fall prevention that can be implemented in your community. I enjoyed spending time with staff members and residents. I learned a lot about the community of Juniper Village. Once again, thank you for allowing me to complete my project with Juniper Village.” Thank you Kailey for your service and friendship to our community!
