There are some activities that we were used to doing that for now we can’t do in order to stay safe and maintain social distancing. But luckily there are still some things that we can continue to do, and one of them is keeping in touch with our pen pals at Phoebe-Berks Adult Care Center in Berks County. About 15 residents from Juniper Village at Lebanon have been corresponding with 15 individuals at Phoebe-Berks for about two years. The letters go back and forth every few months, with people keeping the same pen pal for as long as possible. This time, the letters we received were especially beautiful and individually handcrafted. One woman expressed the desire to meet her pen pal in person, but with the current situation, perhaps a virtual visit will have to be arranged. In the meantime, we’ve had fun writing letters and including some cute seasonal magnets for our friends in Berks County.
