Juniper Village at Forest Hills Receives PALA’s Keystone Award For Their H’Art of Dining Program

Juniper Village at Forest Hills is pleased to announce that their Dietary Manager, Ken Miller and Juniper Communities’ H’Art & Soul of Dining program has been awarded the 2019 Pennsylvania Assisted Living Association’s (PALA) Keystone Award for the Best Practice of the Year!!

Most chefs will agree that food preparation is a work of art; but Juniper Village at Forest Hills’ Dietary Manager Ken Miller has taken that art form to heart with Juniper Communities H’Art of Dining program.  The H’art of Dining program is a culinary concept designed by Juniper Communities for their senior living residences.  By combining fresh, locally grown food products and produce with tastefully prepared and beautifully presented entrees; meal time becomes a culinary experience.

“This concept along with Chef Miller’s All Day Dining program, where residents can select from a variety of heart healthy entrees and have access to dining services daily from 7am to 7pm, has resulted in his recognition for this award”,  states Janet Wangler, Juniper Village at Forest Hills’ Executive Director. “All day dining and meal selection are still considered a new concept in the senior living industry.  Chef Ken’s program is more than just providing meals, it promotes resident individuality and enhances the overall dining experience.”

On Tuesday, September 17 Margie Zelenak, Executive Director for PALA, and PALA Board Member Julie Alakson presented Chef Ken Miller and Janet Wangler from Juniper Village at Forest Hills with the 2019 Best Practice Award.  The Best Practice Award is just one of the four Keystone Awards that PALA presents yearly to individuals and senior living communities who have made a significant impact in the Pennsylvania senior living industry.  The Keystone Awards will be  presented on October 23rd at the Fall PALA Conference in Lancaster, PA.
