Juniper Village at Brookline

New Fitness Coordinator

Juniper Village at Brookline Names Sue Lembeck-Edens New Fitness Coordinator

The CDC reports that 80% of older adults live with a chronic illness. There is evidence to show that physical activity leads to a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, dementia, and some cancers.  By participating in physical activities, older adults can maintain or improve their activity levels and keep moving.

Fitness is a vital part of life here at Juniper.  In an effort to increase physical programming, Juniper is pleased to welcome Sue Lembeck-Edens as our campus-wide fitness and wellbeing coordinator. Sue is no stranger to Juniper; she has been working here for almost two years along with Tsultrim Datso to develop and lead our signature REfresh program. While continuing REfresh across Juniper, Sue will also be developing and implementing a wide variety of fitness and movement programming in all levels of care. Classes in cardio, strength training, balance, and flexibility are just a few of the new additions to look forward to in our personal care and independent living buildings, along with one-on-one range-of-motion sessions at our skilled nursing building.

Sue is a local State College resident with experience as a certified movement and dance therapist and a licensed massage therapist. She is looking forward to meeting with residents individually to assist in developing personalized fitness plans and goals to encourage active bodies and maintain an independent lifestyle.
