Juniper Gives Back at Community Food Share!

Our incredible residents here at Juniper Village at Louisville are always eager to lend a helping hand.

On this day, we partnered with our local food bank to help out families in need.  We were given the task of sorting 2000 pounds of onions!  At first, the 1 ton pallet of onions looked impossible to complete, but onion by onion we sorted the good from the bad and managed to fulfill our objective.  The volunteer coordinator was amazed that we finished in less than 2 hours!  Community Food Share was created as a non-profit organization in 1981. Today, Community Food Share distributes enough food for 24,000 meals every day.  Their goal is to distribute 10.5 million pounds of food this year, but they focus on quality, not just quantity. At least 75% of our distribution will be fresh produce, dairy items, or high-protein foods.  They rescue 11 tons of food a day that would otherwise go into landfills. We created a beautiful partnership and we are looking forward to going back to help serve our community!
