At Applewood Place, A Juniper Senior Living Community, our residents continue to excel at creative expression and writing.

In the spirit of Performing Arts Month, we’ve borrowed a classic theatre technique to expand our minds: improv! One of our favorite events is to tell a story together, each resident adding one word at a time. The exercise takes quick thinking, listening skills, and patience, but is full of laughs as well! Below is one of our wild stories, pieced together word by word by our residents.

Pulled Over by the Police
“One day, I felt angry and hungry when I was interviewed by the police officer. Incredibly nervous and worried, I spilled my juice! I cleaned myself with shampoo and a brush, as Officer Scott ran rapidly to the station. He complained about me driving too fast to church. I left, insulted, and reported to Chief Miller. Concerned, be blew his top! He wrote a ticket requiring Officer Scott to pay a clump of money he didn’t have. Officer Scott stole the money from a bank, and fled conspicuously to Mexico. He drank margaritas. He’s now on vacation from thinking too much about his predicament!”
