In honor of Chinese New Year, the Connections Department at Juniper Village at Forest Hills hosted a “Chinese Takeout In” Event on Wednesday, January 22nd. Residents were greeted by tables donned with festive black and red and place settings topped off with a fortune cookie. Those attending enjoyed a variety of Chinese foods including: egg rolls, cheese wontons, sesame beef, chicken and vegetables, lo mein, string beans with garlic, sweet and sour shrimp and steamed and fried rice! Everyone raved about how delicious everything was, and each person got a “souvenir” of the Chinese New Year zodiac signs and their meanings. The event was well received by all.
Other Chinese New Year’s festivities included: A Chinese Tea and sweet treat social on Wednesday morning where each resident there received a foam fortune cookie that they could open and share the fortune out loud.
And then on Saturday, the residents partook in some Chinese word games while enjoying Mandarin orange snacks to celebrate the day.
