Juniper Village at Lebanon

Celebrating International Women’s Day!

Sunday, March 8 is International Women’s Day 2020, and Juniper Village at Lebanon is joining in on the celebration. Katherine Hoopes and her husband Reverend Warren Hoopes have been residents of Juniper Village for many years in independent living, and they are actually responsible for Becky Duke working at Juniper Village, where she has been in the Connections Department for seven years. But Katherine‘s and Becky‘s friendship began 13 years ago, when they each answered an ad in the paper to provide music for hospice patients. Since then they have started an all-volunteer chorus called One AChord, that has provided music at area nursing homes each month for the past 13 years. They are also both very active in Harmonium Music Association, one of the oldest music clubs in the United States. They have performed together at weddings and other community events. Even though there is a 20 year age difference, Katherine and Becky are a good example of this year‘s theme, “each for equal“, unique, but at the same time alike! Katherine is a great inspiration to Becky and everyone who knows her, because she is constantly doing things for others. Her accomplishments could fill many pages, but just one example will tell you the story: Katherine and her husband volunteer every Thursday to fill Power Pack lunches for area students who need food over the weekends. This involves lifting heavy bags of potatoes, boxes of canned goods, and many other large quantities of food, which would tire out anyone, but they are relentless, dependable, and compassionate in their mission to help out the young people in our community. The world would be a better place if there were more people like Katherine Hoopes!
