We are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day here at Lakewood Reserve today! Each resident received a little pot with their choice of African Sunflowers, Marigold, green beans, Alyssum or Strawflower seeds and soil to plan them in. Once the plants sprout and bloom we will then transplant them into our community garden and watch them further blossom! Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, this year marks 50 years and now includes events coordinated globally in more than 193 countries.
