Juniper Village at Brookline

Brookline Dog Show

On an overcast day in September, rays of sunshine filled a large gathering space at Juniper Village at Brookline Rehabilitation and Skilled Care.

This sunshine was not from the sky, but rather from four-legged furry friends who came to visit for the day. These furry canines were associate dogs who spent the day helping residents celebrate the Dog Days of Summer. Cinnamon and owner Tamera, Taco and owner Jill, Timmy and owner Kathryn, Barkley and owner Alyssa, and Cisco and owner Katie paraded as if in the Westminster Dog Show, to showcase their talents and personalities. Residents voted in the following categories for these lovable dogs: softest coat, best tricks, best vocals, most misbehaved and best waggy tail.

Residents enjoyed petting the larger dogs and holding the smaller ones, all while reminiscing about their own pets from the past. Prior to the event, residents and the Connections team made a special treat for the dogs- dog ice cream! While the festivities were in full celebration several dogs enjoys the ice cream while residents enjoyed paw print cookies. “Engagement opportunities like these are part of what makes Juniper Village a magical place for both residents and associates,” says Kathryn Bainbridge, Administrator.

Tails wagging and people laughing – It was truly an afternoon of doggie love and affection!
