That sounds like simply a rhetorical question, but there is an answer, as you will soon see. On a Friday afternoon in mid-August, a full busload of Juniper Village at Lebanon residents set out on a quest to find ice cream, but we found so much more! As soon as we arrived at Dairy Queen in Cleona, a man came over to give a bear-hug to one of our group, Ralph. Later, he announced that he was treating Ralph to ice cream. We didn’t find out until we tried to pay that the generous offer extended to everyone in our group! Not only that, he also gave each of us a huge cup full of dried corn to feed the ducks that live in the Quittapahilla Creek behind Dairy Queen. It wasn’t until we were ready to leave, when we thanked our mysterious benefactor profusely and asked him several more questions, such as why did he carry around a 50-pound bag of duck corn with him, that we found out that he was actually the owner of this Dairy Queen!
So, there is an answer to our original question, what is better than ice cream? The answer: being treated to ice cream while feeding ducks, enjoying nature and the company of good friends, and even outrunning a storm which arrived later that afternoon!
